About
Us
The
Police Explorer program is centered around the field
of law enforcement. The program provides youth ages
14 to 21 training in
the basics of policing, including law, patrol techniques,
communications and other police related duties. Explorers
participate in hands-on law enforcement duties with
Easton Police officers, including ride-alongs with patrol
officers. The Explorers also spend time with the community
at many community events in the capacity of representing
the Easton Police Department. They assist with parking
and traffic control at various events under the supervision
of a police officer.
In
cooperation with the Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical
Service, (EEMS), the Explorers are trained in CPR and
other first aid techniques. We hope that this training
may very well encourage some future volunteers for Easton
EMS.
Explorers
are
required to attend regular meetings that include organizational
matters, training, and most of all, some quality time
spent with the police officers and other public safety
personnel. In November, 2003, Easton Explorer Post 2001
went on a trip to Washington DC. All the members were
treated to a tour of the monuments, museums and Capitol
area by Chief Solomon's son, John Solomon. The highlight
of the trip was an exclusive visit to the FBI Academy
in Quantico, Virginia. Explorers were able to tour the
state of the art facilities and even eat lunch with
FBI agents and trainees.
The
Easton Police Explorer program is run by the members
themselves under the direction of a group of Police
Officer and civillian advisors. This gives the Explorer
post the freedom to perform and participate in activities
which interest them as a group, and allow them to develop
the program as they see fit.
